The Milwaukee Brewers made things official on Monday.
After reaching an agreement last week, they announced to the world that they are extending future star Jackson Chourio on an eight-year, $82 million contract with two additional club options.
Chourio will make, on average $10.25 million for the next eight years and also has two options worth $25 million in 2032 and 2033.
The deal buys out his three pre-arbitration years, his three arbitration seasons and two campaigns of free agency, plus the two options.
It’s a unique deal for a player who has played six games above Double-A and hasn’t seen time in the majors.
Still, the Brewers are betting on Chourio’s enormous talent, the one that made him the second-best prospect in baseball after the Baltimore Orioles’ Jackson Holliday.
The Jacksons are here to dominate, it seems.
Fans offered their takes on the Brewers’ decision to pay Chourio.
Most of them were positive:

The best thing about this deal, for Brewers fans, is that it signals their intention of competing.
After losing manager Craig Counsell to the Chicago Cubs, most folks thought the Brewers took a step back, and it might be true.
However, signing Chourio to this deal dramatically lowers the odds of the team trading him in the foreseeable future.
Basically, they already paid him to be their franchise cornerstone for the next decade.
If things go right, the Brewers could end up saving a lot of money down the road.
It’s also a risk for them, though.
Nevertheless, Chourio is financially set for life and should now be a regular for the Brewers starting in 2024.
