The New York Jets have been in the news lately about the status of their quarterback position.
To this point in the year, there have been four quarterbacks to suit up at QB for the Jets.
While Zach Wilson was benched in favor of two different players, it appears the team wants to return to him for the rest of the season.
However, recent reports indicate that Wilson doesn’t want to play for the team, refusing to return to a less-than-ideal situation.
While some analysts have taken these reports as gospel, others are unconvinced.
In a recent segment of his show, Craig Carton discussed the current situation and that he’s not buying the Wilson narrative.
As Carton mentioned: “If Zach Wilson had gone to anybody with the New York Jets and said, ‘I’d rather not play,’ he would have been cut on the spot.”
“At no point did Zach Wilson tell anybody of importance that he does not want to play. If Zach Wilson had gone to anybody with the New York Jets and said, ‘I’d rather not play,’ he would’ve been cut on the spot.”

While Wilson might not be fond of his current situation, Carton doesn’t think he would request not to play.
Players have a limited window in the NFL, and for a player like Wilson, more playing time cannot hurt his stock or standing within the league.
If anything, sitting out would indicate to potential future suitors that he is not a team player and that he is unwilling to stick with his team in the most difficult of situations.
The Jets have a lot of decisions to make moving forward.
Robert Saleh has not announced a starting QB for their upcoming game against the Houston Texans, so it remains to be seen how the Wilson situation will resolve itself.
