The San Francisco 49ers are the best team in the NFL right now.
Despite what the record says, they’re playing like the best team in the league, and their roster is the most stacked on both sides of the field.
That’s why it kind of makes sense to see that Brock Purdy is currently the leading MVP candidate in most sportsbooks (via Get Up).
Purdy, who has 25 total touchdowns this season, has +300 odds, followed by Dallas Cowboys star Dak Prescott (+325 odds, 28 touchdowns) and Philadelphia Eagles QB Jalen Hurts (+350, 31 touchdowns).

Needless to say, Purdy isn’t the best quarterback in the league by any means.
But he’s the leader of the best team in the league, and that can take a player a long way.
Also, to be fair, Hurts’ numbers are also inflated by a lot of one-yard rushing touchdowns.
This year’s MVP race also features plenty of non-QB candidates who should get plenty of consideration, such as Myles Garrett, Tyreek Hill, and Christian McCaffrey.
Then again, the MVP award is often a QB award, and a player needs to be dominant to change that.
Adrian Peterson was the last non-QB to be named MVP, and it might take a while before that changes again.
This might not be fair and plenty of people won’t be happy if Purdy winds up running away with this award.
But at the end of the day, it’s all about winning football games, and Purdy has done plenty of winning since he took the reins of the offense.
