The Dallas Cowboys have really hit their stride at the right part of the 2023 NFL regular season, with America’s Team winning six of their last seven games while looking like a legitimate Super Bowl title contender with a potential NFL MVP leading the way in star quarterback Dak Prescott.
Unfortunately, ahead of their second and final regular-season showdown with the division-rival Philadelphia Eagles, head coach Mike McCarthy is dealing with a health issue that required surgery this week.
According to Jane Slater of NFL Network, McCarthy had surgery for acute appendicitis.
I’m told #Cowboys HC Mike McCarthy is out of surgery and procedure for acute appendicitis went fine.

Fortunately for the Cowboys, it appears McCarthy will be good to go to coach against the Eagles on Sunday at AT&T Stadium, which obviously is a great sign for the team’s chances to come out on top against their division rivals.
However, the Cowboys did lose to Jalen Hurts and company earlier in the season, with the Eagles coming out on top with a five-point win over McCarthy’s squad.
The Cowboys will look to avenge that loss while taking advantage of the Eagles, who are coming off a disappointing loss against the San Francisco 49ers last week, which was the worst of the two losses the team has suffered so far this season.
If Dallas can get the win over the Eagles, they will instantly make some noise as a legitimate Super Bowl title contender and perhaps the biggest threat to the 49ers in the NFC moving forward.
It’ll be interesting to see how things pan out this weekend and the impact it will have on the NFC moving forward.
