It is rare for an MLB superstar to be available on the market.
So when a star does become available, you can bet many teams will be interested.
This offseason, one of the top players available was All-Star outfielder Juan Soto.
Many teams were interested in the 25-year-old, but his price tag was high.
Soto ended up getting traded from the San Diego Padres to the New York Yankees.
The Yankees seem to always be in on any available star player.
New York consistently has one of the highest payrolls in the sport and has no problem paying up for elite talent.
But, the Yankees were not the only team interested in Soto.
According to Bob Nightengale, 10 teams checked in on Soto, and only three remained in the hunt until the end.
Ten teams checked in with the Padres for Juan Soto, and at the end, three teams were still in the bidding when the Yankees came in with the top offer.

Nightengale did not mention who the other two teams were.
But, you can bet they were teams with high payrolls.
While Soto may be cheap this season, he is a free agent after the upcoming year.
There is no question he is looking to be the highest-paid player in baseball.
The Yankees are one team that has the money to re-sign him.
Also, with what they gave up, re-signing Soto is a must.
It will be interesting to see how Soto plays under the bright lights of New York.
We have seen some players come to New York and struggle in their first year.
But Soto’s plate discipline and elite hitting skills should play in any city.
Do not be surprised if Soto is in for a career year playing in a great hitter’s park in the Bronx.
