Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence suffered what looked like a serious foot injury against the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 13.
He walked off the field under his own power, but not without a noticeable limp.
Jaguars head coach Doug Pederson later revealed Lawrence suffered a high ankle sprain and did not rule him out for Week 14, but it’s unclear how quickly Lawrence can recover before the team’s match against the Cleveland Browns.
Another issue is if it’s even worth it for Lawrence to rush back.
With five weeks left in the regular season and the Jaguars atop the AFC South, there’s a chance Pederson could sit Lawrence for at least a week to let him heal for more important games down the stretch.
That’s exactly what NFL Network insider Cameron Wolfe believes the Jaguars are debating this week.
“There’s a chance he could play,” Wolfe said Thursday. ” … it’s just how much risk do you want to take for a Week 14 game.”
Why Trevor Lawrence’s toughness & knack for avoiding serious injuries gives him a chance to push to play Sunday vs. Browns.
Jaguars coaches will have to weigh the balance between ‘can he play’ vs. ‘is this best for us long-term if he plays?’

There are two schools of thought here: If you let Lawrence play, he could very easily hurt himself more and absolutely tank the Jaguars’ chances at a playoff or Super Bowl run.
Alternatively, Jacksonville might continue to lose with backup C.J. Beathard under center instead of Lawrence.
Neither situation is good, and it’s on the Jaguars to decide which choice is the best.
Beathard wasn’t awful in place of Lawrence, though.
The veteran backup completed 9-10 passes for 63 yards in the overtime loss to the Bengals.
However, Beathard is no Lawrence, and the Jaguars offense would look very different with him instead of their usual starter.
We’ll see what the Jaguars do in a pivotal week.
