The Kansas City Chiefs have gone from being the team to beat to another borderline contender in the AFC, at least in the eyes of some fans and pundits.
The NFL is a short-memory league.
One day, you’re a legitimate Super Bowl contender, and the next, you cannot beat anyone; that’s just the way it is.
That’s why, following their loss to the Green Bay Packers, Patrick Mahomes isn’t ready to beat himself up.
Talking to the media, he revealed how he learned from HC Andy Reid never to be too low or too high and not overreact after a win or after a loss (via Matt McMullen).
“I learned from Coach Reid. He’s never too high and never too low. He’s focused on the task at hand.”
Good stuff here from Patrick Mahomes on the Chiefs’ mentality following a tough loss. It’s no accident that Mahomes is 16-3 following a loss in his career. pic.twitter.com/AQFJYiyzXj

He’s just going to keep working on getting better and fixing the mistakes that led to the loss, and that’s pretty much the only thing he can do.
Mahomes is 16-3 after a loss, and it doesn’t seem like a coincidence.
Of course, he won’t have it so easy this time, as he’s going to square off against arch-rival Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills following their bye week.
The Chiefs don’t have the same talent on offense as they used to have.
Their receiving corps has underperformed all season long, and he has no reliable weapons outside of Travis Kelce and Rashee Rice.
Even so, if history has taught us something over the past half-decade, it is that you can never count out Mahomes, Reid, and the Chiefs, no matter how ugly things look at the moment.
