Coming into the 2023 NFL season, the Chicago Bears were expected to be one of the teams to watch in the league, with up-and-coming star quarterback Justin Fields potentially on the verge of getting this team over the hump in the NFC.
The Bears were so confident in the team’s immediate future that they chose to trade the No. 1 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft to the Carolina Panthers, even though the draft was stacked with talent at the quarterback position.
This move indicated that the team was all in on Fields and ready to turn some heads during the 2023 campaign with a potential playoff run on the horizon.
Unfortunately for Chicago, it has been more of the same during the 2023 NFL season, as the Bears have continued to struggle, with a record of 4-8 heading into Week 14.
However, defensive tackle Justin Jones believes that the Bears are a team on the verge of breaking out and showing its true potential, via Tom Pelissero of NFL Network.
“I feel like we’re a team that’s on the brink here — just getting ready to burst.”#Bears DT Justin Jones joined The Insiders to discuss his Walter Payton Man of the Year nod and Sunday’s rematch with Detroit.

Even though Jones is clearly confident in the team’s ability to turn things around, Chicago has yet to prove that it is a team on the rise in the NFC, as the Bears seem like they have a long way to go before they can compete with the best of the best in the conference.
It’ll be interesting to see whether the team remains all in on Fields or tries to shake things up during the NFL offseason and potentially bring in his replacement.
