Detroit Tigers slugger Miguel Cabrera announced his retirement from MLB after the end of the 2023 campaign.
He really achieved everything a player can dream of: a World Series title, two MVP awards, a Triple Crown, multiple batting titles, multiple Silver Slugger awards, and the respect and admiration from fans all over the world.
He is now ready to enjoy life after baseball.
Or is he?
Well, not exactly.
For starters, Cabrera won’t be away from the game.
He was named a special assistant to the president of baseball operations on the Tigers.
But he doesn’t appear eager to get out of the batting cage either.
They say elite hitters remain that way for all their lives.
Cabrera was spotted taking batting practice and joking about participating in the Venezuelan league’s Home Run Derby.

In the post by reporter Marco Ruiz, Cabrera is teasing about competing in the Derby.
Ruiz states that potentially having Cabrera in front of thousands of fans competing at Caracas’ Estadio Monumental would be amazing.
And he is absolutely right.
Cabrera was an LVBP (Liga Venezolana de Beisbol Profesional) star early in his career, in the 2000s.
He terrorized pitchers left and right.
Even at 40 years old, fans would surely love to watch the national hero in action.
After all, he has a career .901 OPS and 511 home runs at the biggest stage, in the major leagues.
Will Cabrera have one last farewell on the field, where he belongs?
Will he say goodbye to his fans in Venezuela before embarking into retirement?
We will see.
