With six wins in their last seven games, the Dallas Cowboys have really started to hit their stride at just the right time, with only five regular-season games left to be played in the 2023 campaign.
Unfortunately for Dallas, head coach Mike McCarthy had a bit of a medical emergency ahead of Week 14’s showdown against the division-rival Philadelphia Eagles, as he had to undergo surgery to take care of acute appendicitis.
The sudden and unexpected surgery that McCarthy had to undergo this week put his presence on the sideline for arguably the most important game of the season in jeopardy, as it was uncertain whether he’d be able to help his team in person when Dallas plays host to Philadelphia on Sunday.
Fortunately, it appears that McCarthy will be okay in time to be on the sideline for Week 14’s epic NFC East showdown at AT&T Stadium, which is obviously great news for Dallas and its head coach.
As McCarthy continues to recover ahead of Sunday’s game, he showed his appreciation for those who helped him get through this week considering the circumstances, according to ESPN’s Ed Werder.
#Cowboys HC Mike McCarthy expressed appreciation for veteran players and experienced assistant coaches taking over in his absence:
“We just completed a coordinators’ meeting here this past half hour, and that’s exactly what we concluded with. I had no stress.” pic.twitter.com/Vf8iclUEJF

With McCarthy getting back to business as usual in Dallas, the task remains the same for America’s Team, with the team hosting Jalen Hurts and company in what will be a statement game for both teams.
The Eagles are coming off a devastating loss to the San Francisco 49ers last week, while the Cowboys will be looking to avenge their loss to Philadelphia a few weeks ago.
