The rollercoaster journey of LIV Golf 2025 is set to continue as the world’s top golfers gear up for the Hong Kong event. The inaugural chapter in Riyadh, aptly titled ‘LIV Under the Lights,’ set the stage, while the Adelaide iteration transformed the tournament into a spectacle akin to a grand festival. With Hong Kong on the horizon, the anticipation is palpable as the golfers and fans alike hope for a repeat of the Adelaide fervor.
Adrian Meronk of Poland and Chile’s Joquin Niemann have emerged as the victors in the previous events, with Meronk outpacing Jon Rahm by two strokes in Riyadh and Niemann besting Abraham Ancer and Carlos Ortiz with a three-stroke lead in Australia. As the golfers prepare for the Hong Kong event, Meronk stands ahead in overall points, closely followed by Rahm and Niemann.
The stakes are high in Hong Kong, with substantial prize money on the line. LIV Golf is renowned for its generous payouts, and the Hong Kong event is no exception. The winner stands to receive a handsome $4 million, with the second and third-place finishers pocketing $2.25 million and $1.5 million, respectively. The total payout for the event is a staggering $25 million.
Team prizes are another unique feature of LIV Golf. Legion XIII, captained by Rahm, came out on top in Riyadh, while Sergio Garcia’s Fireballs GC edged out Legion XIII in Adelaide. In Hong Kong, the best-performing team will be rewarded with a sizable share of the earnings.
The tournament will certainly be a star-studded affair. Jon Rahm, a consistent performer in the Saudi-backed tour, is a favorite for the event. He is yet to place outside the top 10 in any LIV Golf tournament and finished last season at the top of the individual points leaderboard. His team, Legion XIII GC, currently leads the team category.
Joaquin Niemann, fresh off his victory over Abraham Ancer, is also a strong contender. Ancer, a previous victor at the Hong Kong Golf Club, is keen to secure back-to-back wins. Other notable participants include Bryson DeChambeau, Tyrell Hatton, and Brooks Koepka.
While the big names like Rahm and Koepka are certainly in the running, the tournament could also prove to be a launching pad for a new star in the world of golf. As the countdown to the Hong Kong event begins, the question on everyone’s mind is: Who will emerge victorious?
