The New York Jets and their fans haven’t had much to be happy about during the 2023 NFL season as they’ve dealt with injuries and inconsistent play from the offense.
Aaron Rodgers’ injury in Week 1 set the team back for the year as they expected him to be the one to lead them back to the postseason and hopefully another Super Bowl championship.
Instead, head coach Robert Saleh was forced to trot out Zach Wilson who had an up an down stretch of games.
There were weeks where Wilson looked competent under center, but then had games that had fans and even his teammates scratching his head.
However, the Jets went back to Wilson for their Week 14 game against the Houston Texans after Tim Boyle somehow played even worse than the former No. 2 overall pick.
Wilson responded with a strong performance that drew rave reviews from Saleh via SNY.
“I thought Zach probably played the best game of his career,” Saleh said.
“He made a lot of things happen that weren’t there… I thought he was oustanding today.”

New York beat Houston 30-6, though that doesn’t tell the whole story as both teams were actually scoreless at halftime.
The Jets caught a massive break when Stroud was forced out of the contest after hitting his head on a hit, and Wilson went to work throwing the football.
Wilson completed 27 of his 36 pass attempts for 301 yards and two touchdowns, an excellent stat line considering his previous games.
It’s a rare win for New York that is likely already looking toward the 2024 NFL season, but at least Wilson showed he can thrive when he plays under control.
