It’s crazy to think that the Washington Commanders agreed to part ways with both Chase Young and Montez Sweat.
Granted that they had already spent plenty of money on their defensive line and needed the draft capital for their new project, but still.
The Chicago Bears got a major steal when they gave up a second-round pick to get the elite pass rusher, and it didn’t take long before he showcased his skills.
As pointed out by Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, Sweat now has a team-high 3.5 sacks in five games since joining the team in Week 9.

On top of that, he’s become the team’s defensive anchor, and they have a top-five defense during that span.
Sweat put on a defensive clinic in their divisional win over the Detroit Lions.
He tallied a sack and six tackles in the 28-13 triumph.
This was his third straight game with at least one sack, taking his season total to 9.5.
The Bears have plenty of things to work on, especially on the offensive side of the field.
Justin Fields isn’t likely to be there next season, and they’ll have more than enough draft capital to add plenty of star talent at several positions.
Even so, it seems like the front office has already found a staple for their defensive line, and they deserve plenty of props for making this trade and also locking him up for years to come with a contract extension.
This team could be just a couple of pieces away from contention, and their defense is all set already.
