Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Kadarius Toney is in hot water once more after his offsides penalty cost his team a potentially-game-winning touchdown in their Week 14 loss to the Buffalo Bills.
Toney’s insane touchdown off a lateral from tight end Travis Kelce was negated after the officials called him offside before the play.
Chiefs head coach Andy Reid and quarterback Patrick Mahomes were incredulous after the game, but Reid noted that Toney made a crucial error that could have prevented the penalty from even being called in the first place.
“Normally, he looks over to the sideline and just gets an O-K,” Reid said. “On that one, he just happened not to. That’d be the coaching point — make sure you check with the guy on the side just to see if you’re aligned.”

This isn’t the first time Toney’s play affected the outcome of the Chiefs game.
Toney dropped a pass from Mahomes in Week 1 that was intercepted and taken back for a 50-yard touchdown by Detroit Lions safety Brian Branch.
The touchdown tied the game at 14-14 in the third quarter and the Chiefs went on to lose, 21-20, in the 2023 season opener.
Toney has also been wildly unproductive in his first full season with the Chiefs.
He’s caught just 25 receptions for 164 yards and one touchdown and rushed 11 times for 31 yards in 12 games.
Toney’s never caught more than five passes in a game this season for no more than 35 yards.
The Chiefs needed a second pass-catcher to step up alongside Kelce this year after the team traded Tyreek Hill and let JuJu Smith-Schuster leave in consecutive offseasons.
They aren’t getting that from Toney.
