The San Francisco 49ers came into the 2023 NFL regular season with high hopes that quarterback Brock Purdy would prove his doubters wrong and take another step toward becoming a bona fide star in the NFL while leading this team to a Super Bowl title.
Although there have been times when Purdy has struggled, namely the three-game losing streak heading into their bye week, the Iowa State product has exceeded expectations this season and proven his worth to the team.
After leading the 49ers to a fifth straight win on Sunday against the Seattle Seahawks, San Francisco is rolling, with Purdy being a legitimate NFL MVP candidate and the team being arguably the best in the league at this point in the season.
John Middlekauff believes that had Purdy been taken where Trey Lance was selected in the NFL Draft, everyone would be raving about him and singing his praises on a weekly basis.
However, as Mr. Irrelevant, everyone still seems to be waiting for the soon-to-be 24-year-old to fail, via The Volume.

Middlekauff might have a point here, as Purdy seems to have to continue proving himself week after week, even though he’s played exceptionally well this season and is currently in the MVP conversation.
It’ll be interesting to see how the rest of the season goes for Purdy, if he can lead this team to a title, and what that might do for his career moving forward.
