The NFL is a quarterback’s league, and now more than ever.
Teams cannot win at the highest level unless they’re all set at the QB position, and that’s why some still have doubts about some apparent Super Bowl contenders.
Notably, that seems to be the case with Cam Newton, who recently called Dak Prescott, Tua Tagovailoa, Brock Purdy, and Jared Goff all ‘game managers,’ which is why he has doubts about their team’s ability to go the distance.
With that in mind, ESPN analyst Kimberley Martin ripped Newton, calling him out for not even being on an NFL roster and comparing him to all the people who are sitting on their couches (Via Awful Announcing).
Kimberley Martin reacts to Cam Newton calling Brock Purdy, Tua Tagovailoa, Jared Goff and Dak Prescott game managers: “In the year of 2023 where it’s all about NFL backups, where is Cam? Not on an NFL roster, right? He’s talking about all of these NFL game managers. He sounds… pic.twitter.com/vdqZ3NW7sN

Cam Newton says Tua Tagovailoa, Dak Prescott, Jared Goff and Brock Purdy are all game managers.
They’re not playmakers.

Truth be told, Martin has a bit of a valid point there in the sense that Newton isn’t even signed to a team right now.
Then again, Newton is 34 years old and past his prime, and it’s not like he didn’t accomplish anything in the league.
He was an MVP and led his team to the big game, and he was never a game manager, so he knows very well what he’s talking about and has earned the right to have his opinion about some of his colleagues.
At his best, Newton was a significantly better quarterback than all of the guys he mentioned, and it’s not like he is hating on them.
Are former players no longer allowed to talk about their colleagues just because they’re no longer on a roster?
