The Minnesota Vikings have officially made a decision on Josh Dobbs.
While he captured the fanbase’s hearts after his electric start, Dobbs has since cooled down.
After three solid performances, the wheels fell off for Dobbs, throwing four interceptions against the Chicago Bears.
He was given another chance last week against the Las Vegas Raiders before being benched in favor of Nick Mullens.
After seeing Dobbs get benched and hearing that the Vikings are starting Mullens this week, Kurt Warner made sure to make his feelings about the situation heard.
According to Warner’s recent tweet, he felt terrible for Dobbs and the situation the Vikings have put him in.
He also mentioned that “he played well, dropped passes all over, some things didn’t work & of course missed some.”
Just watched @Vikings tape & I feel for @josh_dobbs1 being benched… so important to watch each play & not just see the results… I feel he played well, dropped passes all over, some things didn’t work & of coursed missed some, but far from a “benching” performance IMO!

While Dobbs certainly wasn’t perfect, Warner thinks he didn’t play poorly enough to warrant being benched.
The Vikings still have an opportunity to make the playoffs.
They must believe Mullens gives them a better opportunity to make it to the postseason, so they’re going away from Dobbs.
Dobbs does present a higher rushing upside at the quarterback position, something the Vikings offense has gotten used to over the past several weeks.
It will be interesting to see how they adjust to Mullens’ playstyle, especially with Justin Jefferson returning to the fold.
The Vikings are now on their third starting quarterback of the season, a common trend across the NFL.
Injuries have plagued the majority of the league, causing backups to step in and try to impact teams, especially those with playoff aspirations.
