The Cleveland Browns have started four different quarterbacks this season: Deshaun Watson, P.J. Walker, Dorian Thompson-Robinson and Joe Flacco.
Oddly enough, Flacco has been the best of the group in his 16th season in the league
He’s thrown for 565 yards and five touchdowns in his two starts with just two interceptions.
But, he’s been on the practice squad this entire time – until today.
The Browns reportedly reached a one-year deal on the 38-year-old quarterback, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, which secures his spot on the active roster for the rest of the season.
While fans weren’t shocked to hear this news, the idea of Flacco leading the Browns into the 2023 playoffs is a weird one given his past playing years with the Baltimore Ravens as well as how much Cleveland paid Watson two summers ago.

The deal comes less than a week after Flacco led the Browns to a 31-27 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 14.
Flacco threw for 311 yards, three touchdowns, and one interception in the win and his performance earned him the starting job for the rest of the season, Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski announced after the game.
The deal is deserved, but certainly odd given Flacco’s age and the Browns’ legitimate chances to make the playoffs.
At 8-5, Cleveland is in the driver’s season for a wildcard berth – and Flacco will lead the charge.
If Flacco finishes the season as a starter, it’ll be the most games he’s played in a season since his lone year with the Denver Broncos in 2019.
And if the Browns make the playoffs, it’ll be Flacco’s first postseason appearance since he played for the Ravens in 2014.
