Shohei Ohtani, the 2021 and 2023 AL MVP, decided to leave the Los Angeles Angels after six seasons with them.
He left behind memories and the unconditional support from fans to pursue his dream of winning a World Series title, or even participating in the playoffs, with the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Given the fact the Angels couldn’t even take him to the postseason in any of the seasons Ohtani played with them, there is absolutely nothing wrong with his choice.
Even Angels fans know that.
Ohtani is not the only one saying goodbye, though.
“Ippei Mizuhara — Shohei Ohtani’s interpreter — posted this on Instagram. Not a man of many words, Ippei had some heartfelt thoughts for Angels fans here,” Angels insider Sam Blum tweeted.

“Cannot thank you guys enough for all the support for the last six years. Really, really gonna miss you guys, and I truly mean that from the bottom of my heart. It has been a great pleasure being part of the Angels family”, he wrote on his Instagram account.
As Ohtani’s interpreter, Ippei knows what he means to the city of Los Angeles and for the Angels organization.
He witnessed the love and admiration fans professed towards Ohtani.
Even though things didn’t work out on a results standpoint, Ohtani picked them over the remaining 29 franchises at one point and that means something.
Now, a new chapter for Shohei and Ippei begins.
Fortunately for them, they won’t have to relocate or move too far away from where they have been the past six years.
