The Los Angeles Dodgers are trying to become a powerhouse.
They already secured Shohei Ohtani’s services, they are pushing hard for Yoshinobu Yamamoto, and they completed a trade with the Tampa Bay Rays.
“BREAKING: Right-hander Tyler Glasnow and the Los Angeles Dodgers are finalizing a five-year, $135 million contract, sources tell ESPN. Once the deal is complete, the trade of Glasnow and Manuel Margot from the Rays to the Dodgers for Ryan Pepiot and Jonny DeLuca will be official,” MLB insider Jeff Passan tweeted.

Late on Thursday, the Rays and Dodgers agreed in principle on the trade, but it was contingent on Glasnow and LA coming to terms on a contract extension.
That happened on Friday morning, as the Dodgers will tack on another $110 million over four years to the one-year, $25 million contract he had already in place for 2024.
In total, the Dodgers will be paying Glasnow $135 million from 2024 to 2028.
The rich keep getting richer.
Yes, the Dodgers lost a promising young starter in Pepiot and a potential starting-caliber outfielder in DeLuca, but they get to add a legit ace.
What do people think about the deal?
Let’s go to Twitter and check.
Some of them think the price is steep, especially for a guy who has proven to be injury-prone:
Holy overpay

27 million for a guy who’s thrown 300 innings since 2019 lol

Others think the price is about right:
5/135 is a discount compared to the rest of the market but considering age and injury history I get it
Feels like yet another good get/price for Dodgers.

Of course, those who are mad at the Dodgers for actually spending money to try and win are and will always be there:

Dodgers being Dodgers!

Glasnow had a 3.53 ERA in 2023, with 162 strikeouts in 120 innings pitched.
He should slot near the top of the Dodgers rotation, which is looking better and better.
