On Friday, the wishes of many Los Angeles Chargers fans came true when the team fired both head coach Brandon Staley and general manager Tom Telesco.
The team has been a perpetual disappointment despite often possessing ample talent over the past 15 years or more, and that has especially been true the last two seasons, during which it has had Super Bowl aspirations.
But this year has been an embarrassment, and it came to a head on Thursday when the Chargers lost 63-21 to the Las Vegas Raiders.
While Giff Smith, their outside linebackers coach, will be their interim head coach, their search for a permanent head coach has begun.
Some say coaching L.A. will be a very desirable job, but Emmanuel Acho said on FS1’s “Speak” that while it is a good one, it is also an overrated job.

Acho mentioned how L.A.’s key players have struggled to stay healthy and how one of their best players, pass rusher Khalil Mack, is 32 years of age and will become a free agent at the conclusion of next season.
There is no question the Chargers have a good amount of talent, but they also have some holes in their roster, and their lack of cap space will make it difficult for them to address those needs.
They must look to the draft as a result, but it looks like they wasted a golden opportunity in April when they took wide receiver Quentin Johnston over studs such as Zay Flowers and Jordan Addison.
Johnston has just 31 catches for 356 yards this year, and his 60.8 percent catch rate is very subpar.
