The Dallas Cowboys headed into Week 15 of the 2023 NFL regular season with high hopes of taking another step closer to locking up a high seed in the NFL playoffs as they went on the road to face the resurgent Buffalo Bills at Highmark Stadium.
After winning five straight games and coming off an impressive win over the division-rival Philadelphia Eagles, the Cowboys looked to be in the running for the NFC’s best team once again, along with the San Francisco 49ers.
That quickly came to an end on Sunday in Buffalo, with Dak Prescott and company unable to get anything going offensively against the Bills, nor was the defense able to stop running back James Cook, who ran all over them.
With the Cowboys unable to get anything going offensively, Prescott had one of his worst performances of the season, and as a result, he may have lost his opportunity to win his first NFL MVP award.
Emmanuel Acho of FOX Sports believes that Prescott is no longer in the MVP race and uses history to back up why he feels that the veteran quarterback won’t win the regular-season award.

As Acho points out, only two players in the past were able to win NFL MVP after suffering blowout losses late in the regular season, with Peyton Manning and Boomer Esiason being the examples.
At this point, it seems as though the NFL MVP race might be down to two quarterbacks, with Brock Purdy and Lamar Jackson being the two players left standing with three games left to go.
Ironically enough, these two MVP candidates will go head-to-head on Christmas Day, and the outcome may crown a new MVP and decide which team is the league’s elite heading into the playoffs.
