The Dallas Cowboys aren’t as bad as they looked vs. the Buffalo Bills, but that loss also proved that they weren’t as good as they looked in their win over the Philadelphia Eagles.
Most of the time, that’s just how things go in this league.
But given the fact that teams play just one game per week, the news cycle often leads to short memory and overreactions.
That’s why just one week after everybody praised Mike McCarthy’s coaching vs. the Eagles, now some want the former Green Bay Packers coach fired.
With that in mind, team owner Jerry Jones made it loud and clear that McCarthy’s job wasn’t in jeopardy by any means (Via Jon Machota).
“He’s coached three playoff teams in a row. I think he’s done an outstanding job,” Jones said.
Cowboys owner Jerry Jones on @1053thefan on head coach Mike McCarthy: “He’s coached three playoff teams in a row. I think he’s done an outstanding job. … I frankly said to the (coaching) staff yesterday, ‘You got us in this spot to be as disappointed as we are about the Buffalo…

Talking on 105.3 The Fan, Jones stated that the only reason why everybody was so disappointed by the Cowboys’ tough loss to the Bills was that McCarthy had done an outstanding job of coaching three consecutive playoff teams and putting them in that position to begin with.
Jones lauded the coaching staff and called them ‘part of the best part of the team.’
Jerry Jones has often been loyal and patient to his head coaches, sometimes to a fault.
Jason Garrett had a longer leash than most HCs around the league, up to the point where it actively hurt the team.
Then again, as much as McCarthy has left something to be desired in the playoffs and against some winning teams, he’s also earned the benefit of the doubt in Dallas.
