The San Francisco 49ers found their quarterback, and people need to deal with that fact.
Brock Purdy might not be the most athletic or the most impressive, but he’s tailor-made for Kyle Shanahan’s system, which doesn’t necessarily mean he’s a system quarterback, as his critics want to make it seem.
At least, that’s how fellow QB Kirk Cousins seems to feel about him.
Talking to Adam Schefter of ESPN, the Minnesota Vikings star raved about how perfectly Purdy has executed Shanahan’s system, a system he’s quite familiar with from his time in Washington.
As he continues to rehab his torn Achilles, @KirkCousins8 addressed his past in Washington, his recovery in Minnesota, his future in free agency, and how Brock Purdy has the 49ers’ QB job that he once might have had.

Cousins claimed that he knows Shanahan always has his QB’s back and was in awe of the way such a young player with not so many reps as a professional has been able to maximize that system, stating that he should definitely win the MVP award this season.
It’s easy to say that the Niners have an offensive juggernaut and that Purdy isn’t doing anything impressive.
But people should also consider the fact that he did beat Jimmy Garoppolo, Trey Lance, and Sam Darnold for the job when they were all healthy, and that speaks volumes of how good of a job he’s done in charge of the offense.
Shanahan stood by him during the three-game slide; he never put his job in question, and he bounced back in a big way.
