The Pittsburgh Pirates have made a few interesting moves so far this offseason.
Anytime they sign a player in free agency it should be noted.
So far the Pirates have signed Martin Perez and Andrew McCutchen.
The latter is the more interesting signing as McCutchen has always been a longtime favorite in Pittsburgh.
He is nearing the end of his career and retirement is on the horizon for the former MVP.
According to Bob Nightengale, McCutchen plans to play two more seasons and hopes to retire as a Pirate.
Andrew McCutchen, 37, who signed his 2nd one-year, $5 million contract with the Pirates, says that he plans to play at least two more seasons and hopes to retire as a Pirate.

McCutchen is coming off a season where he played 112 games as a Pirate.
He batted .256 with 12 home runs and 43 RBI over that span.
Plus, he had an on-base percentage of .378.
McCutchen has always been great in terms of plate discipline.
That is something that has gone by the wayside with most hitters.
MLB is all about power and how far you can hit the ball.
But, the players and teams that place a premium on getting on base will have substantial success.
It makes sense that McCutchen finishes his career as a Pirate.
That is where he had his most success and is the one place he will forever call home.
The Pirates have a young team and McCutchen can help develop some players.
Playing in a weak NL Central means the Pirates could compete for a playoff spot.
But they will need a few of their young players to step up and reach their full potential.
While McCutchen is nearing the last few years of his career, his impact will still be felt in Pittsburgh.
