The Milwaukee Brewers are hoping to make the moves necessary this offseason that will keep them in contention.
Last year, the Brewers won the NL Central.
But, they had one change in the offseason that could affect their success in 2024.
Manager Craig Counsell agreed to leave the Brewers and take the manager job with the Chicago Cubs.
That is a move that surprised many, along with upsetting a lot of Brewers fans.
However, the team decided to make their longtime bench coach Pat Murphy their new manager.
Murphy has plenty of experience in Milwaukee and should be able to pick up where Counsell left off.
Outside of the manager, the Brewers are still looking for ways to improve their roster.
According to the Brewers, they have signed catcher Eric Haase to a one-year deal.

Haase will come in and take over the backup catcher role.
This is not a move that will move the needle much, but backup catchers do play a role over the season.
Haase spent time with the Detroit Tigers and Cleveland Guardians last season.
He struggled to produce from an offensive standpoint.
But, he did have his most productive offensive season in 2021.
He batted .231 with 22 home runs and 61 RBI.
The Brewers have one of the best young catchers in baseball in William Contreras.
So, Haase will not be tasked with a big role in 2024.
The Brewers are hoping to do enough this offseason to remain favorites in the NL Central.
While it is not a loaded division, both the Cardinals and Reds seem poised to be challengers next year.
