Heading into the 2023 NFL regular season, the New York Jets were expected to be a force to be reckoned with in the AFC and perhaps a legitimate Super Bowl title contender, with the team bringing in superstar quarterback Aaron Rodgers to be the new leader under center.
Unfortunately for New York, Rodgers went down in his first series on the field for the team against the division-rival Buffalo Bills, as the veteran quarterback suffered an Achilles injury that was expected to end his first season with the Jets.
Even though an Achilles injury tends to end the season and potentially the career of a player of advanced age like Rodgers, the four-time NFL MVP was determined to get back on the field in 2023 for the Jets.
Although the Jets have been eliminated from playoff contention and are limping to the finish line this season, the team has officially activated Rodgers, according to the Jets’ Twitter account.
We have activated QB Aaron Rodgers.
We have released FB Nick Bawden.

Even though Rodgers has been activated to the 53-man roster, the team has no intention of playing Rodgers during the team’s final three regular-season games, and justifiably so, with the team simply wanting to get through the rest of the season as healthy as possible.
The real question now will be what the future holds for the veteran quarterback and the Jets franchise, as he intends to return to New York, but the team might look much different next season with moves expected to be made during the NFL offseason, including a potential shake-up of the coaching staff.
