One debate in the NFL that is really starting to heat up due to the talent at the wide receiver position being on the rise is which players are considered to be the top-five at wide receiver in the history of the league.
With the NFL becoming more and more of a passing league, this debate will likely change pretty consistently for the foreseeable future, with Tyreek Hill, Ja’Marr Chase, and Justin Jefferson bound to shake things up moving forward.
One superstar from the past who has been able to stand the test of time in this debate is former San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Jerry Rice, who is usually dubbed the best wideout in NFL history by the fans, media, and current and former players.
This time around, Rice was asked who he believes are the five best wide receivers of all time, and he proceeded to provide a pretty interesting list, especially in terms of ranking these players.
According to Dov Kleiman, Rice has himself atop his list, followed by Calvin Johnson, Cris Carter, Randy Moss, and Terrell Owens.

That’s a pretty solid list, with the only real questions being Carter’s inclusion and having Johnson ahead of Moss and Owens, even though the attitude of the last two might have been the difference.
With Hill and Jefferson looking like generational talents, it would be safe to assume that Rice might change this list in the very near future, but as of right now, he’s going with the old-school approach with the five players he chose.
