The Pittsburgh Steelers are in free fall as they dropped their third consecutive game, this time to the Indianapolis Colts.
The Steelers lost 30-13, a disappointing effort for a team that’s fighting for their playoff lives.
Pittsburgh is 7-7 during the 2023 NFL season, and technically still on the postseason bubble though they’ve fallen behind the Buffalo Bills and Denver Broncos.
The offense has been spiraling since Kenny Pickett got hurt, and head coach Mike Tomlin’s already made a change as he announced Mason Rudolph would be the starter for Week 16 against the Cincinnati Bengals.
Making matters worse, Damontae Kazee was suspended for the remainder of the 2023 NFL season for his hit on Michael Pittman Jr.
Kazee appealed the suspension and the NFL decided to uphold the regular season suspension but will allow him to return for the postseason via Jonathan Jones of CBS.
The regular season suspension has been upheld upon appeal. Kazee can return for the playoffs should the Steelers make it. https://t.co/owYkE1NX0b

With Pittsburgh unlikely to make the playoffs, it would appear that Kazee’s season is over.
His suspension length was determined partly because he’s a repeat defender.
The Steeler secondary has regressed as the season’s gone on and will likely take another hit without Kazee.
Kazee’s absence will hurt against the Bengals, though the defense might catch a break if Ja’Marr Chase is ruled out with a shoulder injury.
In another AFC North rivalry game, it will be interesting to see how the Pittsburgh defense responds.
