The Los Angeles Chargers’ season hasn’t gone the way the team had planned.
While they are not mathematically eliminated, they are effectively out of the playoff race, pending a miraculous turn of events.
Many veterans might start to phone it in with three games left, especially when they have little faith in a playoff run.
Not Austin Ekeler.
Ekeler will take these games to try to “paint” his resume, given he is a free agent in the offseason, he told Kris Rhim from ESPN via Around The NFL.

Ekeler still believes he has enough left in the tank to contribute to an NFL roster in 2024.
Whether that is with the Chargers remains to be seen.
The team was unwilling to sign him to a contract extension coming into the season, and while he still thinks he is polishing his resume, this hasn’t been his best year.
If teams are looking at his overall 2023 statistics, they might not be interested in signing Ekeler.
However, they could be more interested if they monitor what he has done over the past four years.
Ekeler has been one of the NFL’s premier pass-catching backs since he entered the league.
He provides a dual threat whenever he steps on the field, or at least, he has in years past.
While this season hasn’t been his best, statistically, if he does turn on the jets in the back half of the season, there’s no telling what his market could be in 2024.
The league has devalued running backs lately, which could lead to a diminished return on a contract, even if Ekeler signs somewhere.
