The Detroit Lions aren’t just barreling toward their first playoff appearance since 2016, the team is also on the cusp of winning the NFC North for the first time since 1993.
Detroit just won it’s 10th game of the season this past week for its first double-digit win year since 2014.
A lot of that is thanks to their top-five offense that ranks fifth in yards and third in points scored.
However, they’ve faltered a bit this season in big moments, including recent losses to division rivals like the Green Bay Packers and Chicago Bears as well as a blowout defeat at the hands of the Super Bowl-contending Baltimore Ravens.
So while the Lions are one of the best teams in the NFL statistically, some have questioned their legitimacy as a team in the postseason.
But Lions safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson didn’t want to hear any of that negativity.
When asked by a reporter if he believed Detroit was a threat in the playoffs, he responded quickly and swiftly.
“That’s the dumbest question,” Gardner-Johnson said. “You know we’re a threat.”

The Lions have proven at times to be a dominant team, as evidenced by their 42-17 bludgeoning of the Denver Broncos a week ago.
The offense, led by quarterback Jared Goff, wideout Amon-Ra St. Brown, and running backs David Montgomery and Jahmyr Gibbs, are certainly one of the best units in the league.
But the defense needs work and has allowed the 22nd-most points per game this season.
They haven’t faced a terribly frightening schedule, though, with only three games against teams with a record above .500 at the time of the game and one against the Kansas City Chiefs to open the season.
