During the MLB offseason, not every move is going to be significant.
Sometimes teams make smaller moves to help out the bottom of their roster.
Over a 162-game season, having depth is important.
The Mets hope to achieve that with their most recent move.
According to Anthony DiComo, the Mets have acquired Adrian Houser and Tyrone Taylor from the Milwaukee Brewers.
News: Mets are acquiring pitcher Adrian Houser and outfielder Tyrone Taylor from the Brewers for pitching prospect Coleman Crow, source confirms.
Houser profiles as a candidate for a back-end rotation job, Taylor a RHH bench bat. Crow will miss this season recovering from TJ.

Neither player is going to play a significant role on the team this year.
But Houser has shown he can be an effective back-of-the-rotation arm in the past.
While Taylor is nothing more than a fourth or fifth outfielder who can fill in when someone needs an off day.
The Mets do not seem destined to compete for a World Series in 2024.
But they could be a playoff team.
It all depends on what they decide to do with their roster.
We know the Mets are interested in signing Yoshinobu Yamamoto, who would be a great addition to their rotation.
But there was also some speculation that they could trade first baseman Pete Alonso this offseason.
If they do that their chances of winning will take a significant hit.
The Mets need to figure out which direction they want to head in.
Last season was a disaster as they only won 75 games.
Yet, they have the resources available to them to build a competitive team.
Acquiring Houser and Taylor should be just the first of many moves the Mets make this offseason.
It will be interesting to see what they do next.
