Every player that laces up his cleats in MLB wants the chance to win a World Series.
But to do that, you have to first make the playoffs.
Recently, MLB expanded the playoffs to include three wild card teams instead of two.
But, there is still one player that most baseball fans are waiting to see dominate in the postseason.
That is Los Angeles Angels outfielder Mike Trout.
The three-time AL MVP has all the accolades you could look for in a career except playoff success.
Trout has only made the playoffs one time in his career.
It was in 2014 when his Angels got swept by the Kansas City Royals.
Since then we have not seen Trout in the playoffs despite him having some incredible seasons.
According to Codify, Trout has the two highest WAR seasons of a player who did not make the playoffs over the last 12 years.
Highest single-season WAR by MLB players on teams that didn’t make the playoffs that season in the last dozen years:
Trout (2012) –> 10.5
Trout (2016) –> 10.5
Ohtani (2023) –> 10.0
Trout (2018) –> 9.9
Harper (2015) –> 9.7
Trout (2015) –> 9.6
Ohtani (2022) –> 9.6

Trout has been great for so long that it is a shame we never get to see him in the playoffs.
But, the Angels have consistently had bad teams.
It just goes to show you that one player cannot carry a team in MLB.
Now that the Angels lost Shohei Ohtani in free agency, the chances of them making the playoffs next year are slim.
At some point, you have to wonder if the Angels would consider trading Trout.
He could get them a nice haul in return that would help start their rebuild.
Overall, not seeing Trout in the postseason has been disappointing.
Hopefully, he can get back there before the end of his career.
