The Los Angeles Chargers have been in a free-fall this season.
The team sits at the bottom of the AFC West with a 5-9 record, no full-time head coach, and no quarterback.
With just three games left, all the Chargers are really playing for is a better draft pick.
So as they head toward the end of the season, Los Angeles announced it waived veteran defensive tackle Sebastian Joseph-Day after he started 14 games this season.

Joseph-Day, 28, was in the midst of his second season with the team after three years with the Los Angeles Rams.
He tallied career-high three sacks and 11 quarterback hits in 2023 as the Chargers’ starting defensive tackle.
Joseph-Day signed a three-year, $24 million deal in 2022 with $16.5 million in guaranteed money.
This appears to be a pre-offseason cap saving moving by the Chargers, as Joseph-Day would have counted $10 million to the 2024 salary cap had he remained on the roster before next season.
He has 11 career sacks and 31 career quarterback hits in 69 career games.
The Chargers, meanwhile, could be heading toward a complete teardown this offseason with a new head coach and new general manager.
Head coach Brandon Staley and GM Tom Telesco were recently fired following the Chargers’ 63-21 loss to the Las Vegas Raiders.
The only player guaranteed to return is quarterback Justin Herbert, who signed a five year, $262.5 million contract extension this past offseason with $133.7 million in guaranteed money but will miss the rest of the season with a finger injury.
Whoever is in charge of Los Angeles next year will have a lot of roster decisions to make as the team heads in a new direction.
