The Chicago Bears could be on the verge of making a franchise-changing decision.
With USC superstar QB Caleb Williams most likely declaring for the upcoming NFL Draft and them having the No. 1 pick via the Carolina Panthers, he looks like a no-brainer selection.
Needless to say, that leaves Justin Fields as the odd man out.
With that in mind, he was asked about how he wanted to be remembered by the fans during this chapter of his career, even if that doesn’t necessarily mean he won’t be with the team next season, via WGN News.
Fields stated that he wanted to be remembered as a good person and for the guy he is first and foremost, adding that the football part should come after that.
The Ohio State product has had his fair share of ups and downs since arriving in the Windy City.
He dealt with more scrutiny than any other QB in his class, and he overcame plenty of early criticism.
There was a stretch in which he looked like the best QB of his class, but his team never put him in a position to succeed.
Matt Eberflus’ coaching staff wanted to change the way he plays, and while that could be better for him in the long run because of his injury-proneness, that never allowed him to fully unleash his potential.
Now, Fields is most likely going to have plenty of suitors for his services, and it’ll be up to him to make the Bears regret their decision of giving up on him.
