The New York Jets season more-or-less ended the moment quarterback Aaron Rodgers tore his Achilles in Week 1.
The Jets have won just five games since then and looked awful in their nine losses.
Despite the very obvious deficiencies across the roster, though, the jobs of head coach Robert Saleh and general manager Joe Douglas appear safe.
And the team itself appears reserved to just blame their woes on Rodgers’ injury rather than attempt to fix the issues that led to losses in what was supposed to be a big season for the team.
That idea didn’t sit right with former NFL general manager Michael Lombardi, who believes the Jets have no accountability since Rodgers’ injury and have used that as a crutch to lean on in a lost season.
“When the Jets lost Aaron Rodgers there should’ve been an adjustment in the game plan,” Lombardi said. “Where’s the accountability?”

New York’s heralded defense has faltered down the stretch as the offense has failed without Rodgers.
The Jets just gave up 30 points to the Miami Dolphins this past week and have been blown out in three of their losses this season.
The offense, meanwhile, ranks 30th in points scored and will be on its fourth quarterback of the year with Trevor Siemian set to start with Zach Wilson unable to play due to a concussion.
At the end of the day, the issues with the Jets this season don’t fall on Rodgers’ unavailability.
As Lombardi said, the team should have had a contingency plan or a game plan that didn’t rely solely on Rodgers.
Instead, they’ll just finish without a playoff berth again.
