We know you have read this a lot this year, but Ronald Acuña Jr. made history… again.
The dynamic Atlanta Braves superstar had joined the exclusive 40-40 club last weekend.
In reality, since he had more than 60 stolen bases, what he did was become the founding member of the 40-60 club.
Well, with two stolen bases on Wednesday, he became the only player in the history of the game to log a 40-70 season.
Take a minute to digest what that means.
Lots of players can impact a game with their power and speed, but no one in MLB has as much of both as Acuña.
He also chose a big moment to get his 70th steal: the bottom of the 10th inning of a tied game against the Chicago Cubs.
His teammates asked him to take the base with him and he did just that, a la Rickey Henderson.

He is in pole position to win the first MVP award of his career.
Los Angeles Dodgers star Mookie Betts has been almost as good, but when a player does something that hasn’t been done before in almost 150 years of history, that’s a tiebreaker right there.
No one in baseball has had a 40-50 season, let alone a 40-70 one, before Acuña did it in 2023.
Oh, and he has also scored 146 runs and is hitting .336 with a .596 slugging percentage.
He is truly a one-of-a-kind player.
