The Detroit Lions will have one of their best offensive players on the field tonight.
According to a report by Tom Pelissero of the NFL Network, Dan Campbell’s team will have RB David Montgomery available.
On top of that, he’s expected to be the lead back, with star rookie Jahmyr Gibbs providing depth and a change-of-pace option for the Lions.
Take 2: #Lions RB David Montgomery will play tonight and be the lead back vs. the #Packers, though there’s plenty in the game plan for rookie Jahmyr Gibbs, too. Meanwhile, RB Aaron Jones and WR Christian Watson return for the banged-up #Packers. @gmfb @nflnetwork pic.twitter.com/aAh5G0t2xF

As for the Green Bay Packers, they’re expected to have star duo of WR Christian Watson and RB Aaron Jones on the field for Matt LaFleur.
Notably, several fans thought Montgomery would be the complementary back, with Gibbs being the featured running back.
The Lions took the Alabama product in the first round and also shipped their other running backs away, so the expectation was that Gibbs would be a prominent part of the offense, which hasn’t been the case thus far.
Montgomery’s best years are in the rearview mirror, and Gibbs is a better option, not to mention a superior pass-catcher.
The Lions will look to play spoiler against the Packers again.
They ended their postseason hopes in the regular-season finale last season, putting an end to Aaron Rodgers’ tenure at Lambeau Field.
Jordan Love has looked quite solid in his first three starts with the organization, but it’s still too early to jump to conclusions there.
Both teams currently sit on a 2-1 record and are expected to go toe-to-toe for the top of the sluggish NFC North division, so tonight’s matchup could have huge implications at the end of the campaign.
