Just when it seemed like none of the leading candidates wanted anything to do with the NFL’s MVP award, a former winner has emerged as the leading candidate.
Lamar Jackson had one of his best performances ever, leading the Baltimore Ravens to a huge 33-19 road win over the San Francisco 49ers, and taking down both Christian McCaffrey and Brock Purdy in the MVP race.
That’s why HC John Harbaugh wanted to reaffirm Jackson’s MVP case, stating that he had a performance for the ages.
Harbaugh admitted that it took a team effort to get such a big win, but added that none of that would’ve been possible if it wasn’t for an MVP-caliber player like Lamar being there to uplift them and make the most of their talents (via NFL on CBS).

Jackson was calm and poised on every single dropback, and outside of a bizarre incident in which he was tripped by a referee, he was able to shake off the Niners’ stellar defensive line more often than not.
He was making plays with his feet and his arm, hitting guys in stride, and extending plays over and over.
And while he did get plenty of help from his defense and they flipped the field multiple times with four interceptions on Brock Purdy, he made sure to make the most of every single chance he had to keep adding points to his team’s tally.
Jackson has already won one MVP, and after last night’s performance, it wouldn’t be shocking to see him add another trophy to his cabinet.
