The Pittsburgh Steelers keep adding depth ahead of the final stretch of the campaign.
According to his agent, Doug Hendrickson, free agent LB Jaylon Smith has signed a contract with the organization (via Ian Rapoport).

The Steelers reportedly intend to keep him on the practice squad for now, but there’s a big chance he gets called up at some point.
#Steelers add another LB tonight, per his agent below. I’m told the team intends to place Smith on the practice squad first, per source. https://t.co/jeu6RhfQRw

Smith is a seven-year veteran with stints with the Dallas Cowboys, Green Bay Packers, New York Giants, and Las Vegas Raiders.
The Raiders signed him off the New Orleans Siants’ practice squad last month, making one appearance for Antonio Pierce’s team before being waived three weeks into his brief tenure with the Silver and Black.
Notably, he was coming off a solid season with the Giants just one year ago, finishing second on the team with 88 total tackles.
Smith was a force to be reckoned with during his days with the Cowboys, averaging just short of 140 tackles per season during a three-year stretch and even earning a Pro Bowl nod back in 2019.
The Notre Dame product entered the league with the No. 34 pick, missing his entire rookie campaign as he nursed a torn ACL and MCL.
The Steelers are still looking to get into the playoffs, sitting on an 8-7 record and tied with three other teams for the final wild-card spot in the AFC, and while they’re more than stacked on defense, you can never have too many playmakers on that side of the ball, especially if you’re Mike Tomlin.
