The Kansas City Chiefs are the defending Super Bowl champions, and as such, they deserve respect and recognition.
However, they haven’t done a lot to prove themselves as the powerhouse they’ve been used to being over the past five years or so, and most people have seemed to lose faith in them.
That includes Pro Football Hall of Famer Shannon Sharpe, who recently claimed that the Chiefs are more likely to go one and done in the playoffs than to make an actual Super Bowl run.
Talking on ESPN’s First Take, the legendary tight end claimed that sometimes the Chiefs get a little too fancy, stating that they only do so to try and hide the many flaws that people have already seen.
“Sometimes the Chiefs get too cute for themselves. You already look good, why do you need to add all this makeup? Because you’re trying to head flaws that you know you have that you don’t think other people can see,” Sharpe said.

I was not a fan of Shannon on Undisputed. When we aren’t doing the nonsense and WWE style with Skip Bayless. Have to say he has been great on first take.

Yeah gotta agree with Shannon on this one. They just don’t look like a team that has even a deep playoff run in em much less a Super Bowl. Think they need to get a WR or 2 this offseason

KC won last year and didn’t adjust. No WR1, inconsistent use of the RB and love of trick plays in short yardage. Andy Reid continues to talk up his WRs, who continue to drop or cuz INTs. The OC has not been great. Can’t continue to pay fellas who can’t line up right or catch

Chiefs will be fine

Truth be told, this year hasn’t been pretty at all for Andy Reid’s team, and it’s shown just how big of a role Eric Bieniemy played in that offense.
No disrespect whatsoever, but Matt Nagy hasn’t exactly proven to be much of an offensive mastermind during his days in the league, especially not of Bieniemy’s caliber.
The Chiefs have a subpar receiving corps, and the players have failed to rise up to the occasion as well.
And while most people in the league can agree that Patrick Mahomes is still the best quarterback in the game, he’s also made plenty of mistakes this season for trying to do too much.
This team could still make a deep postseason run, but as things stand now, it wouldn’t be shocking to see Sharpe’s prediction coming to fruition.
