The New York Giants are coming back to Earth.
Following a disappointing outing vs. the Philadelphia Eagles, HC Brian Daboll decided to turn back to Tyrod Taylor, and it seems like that’s going to be for good.
The Tommy DeVito Mania has officially come to an end, but that doesn’t mean his days in the league are over.
When asked about being benched, the undrafted rookie stated that this tenure showed him and the rest of the world one thing, which is that he belongs in the NFL (via ProFootballTalk).
“That I belong,” DeVito said. “In the NFL, specifically. I mean, just to go out and to prove that to myself. To the younger me, to the me that was training to be here to this point. That’s all it is.”

He made the most of his five minutes of fame to make some investments and diversify his portfolio, but he doesn’t want to be just a meme or an Italian-American cultural icon.
DeVito did lead the Giants to their best three-game stretch of the season, winning three games in a row.
He made big plays, looked comfortable out there, and played mistake-free football for almost a month, which is something not many NFL quarterbacks can say.
Of course, from that to being a starter, well, that’s a bit of a stretch, and he might never get that opportunity again in the future.
But there’s no reason to believe he cannot have a long and successful career as a backup after what he showed with the Giants this season, especially considering that he did a lot better than Daniel Jones did when his number was called.
