The Washington Commanders gave up on one of the most promising pass-rushers in the league.
Chase Young couldn’t keep the momentum going after his impressive rookie season because of all of the injuries.
And with the Commanders already spending a lot of money on their defensive line, they had to come up with the tough decision to trade him to the highest bidder.
That bidder happened to be the San Francisco 49ers, pairing him with fellow Buckeye Nick Bosa to revamp a front seven that was already one of the most dominant in the league.
Fast forward to today, and the Niners are set to face the Commanders in what could’ve been Chase’s revenge game and a perfect moment to prove to them just the kind of player they lost.
Nonetheless, revenge is the last thing on his mind right now.
Instead, he knows he’s going to be at his best, as the Commanders will keep on fighting until the end, even if they’re eliminated from playoff contention already (via ProFootballTalk).
“They’re definitely a team who’s going to fight to the end. I do know that,” Young said. “So we just got to come out good.”

The Commanders will go through plenty of changes in the postseason, and the draft capital they got from Young’s trade could play a pivotal role in whatever moves they decide to make after this season.
He’s looked quite good since joining Steve Wilks’ defense, and the Niners would be wise to do whatever they need to accommodate his salary for the long run.
If not, he’ll have plenty of choices and teams looking forward to signing him if he ends up becoming a free agent.
