The Chicago Cubs are not a team anyone thought would be in playoff contention at the end of September.
They made some nice additions in the offseason, but it did not seem like they had enough.
Yet, it is hard to argue with how well the Cubs have played this season.
With only four games remaining on their schedule, they are tied for the final NL Wild Card spot.
They are tied with the Miami Marlins and whoever does better over the last four games gets in.
But, it appears the odds are not in the Cubs’ favor.
Mostly because they have to play the Atlanta Braves on Thursday and the Milwaukee Brewers this weekend.
The Marlins get to face the New York Mets Mets on Thursday and the Pittsburgh Pirates over the weekend.
According to Codify, the Cubs have a 29% chance to make the postseason, while the Marlins are at 69%.

One thing the Cubs have going for them is a healthier roster than the Marlins.
Miami has been without Luis Arraez for the last three games and they lost star pitcher Sandy Alcantara for the season.
They seem to be leaking oil at the wrong time and their injuries could be what derails them.
That would open the door for the Cubs to sneak into the playoffs.
Chicago has gotten great seasons from Cody Bellinger, Seiya Suzuki, and Justin Steele.
Adding them with Dansby Swanson and Nico Hoerner gives the Cubs a formidable roster.
Now is the time to show they are good enough to clinch a playoff berth.
