The Dallas Cowboys have been one of the most confounding teams in the NFL this season.
They’re a bonafide contender at 11-5 with an actual shot to win the NFC East and/or the No. 1 seed in the conference if the San Francisco 49ers and Philadelphia Eagles lose their final two games, but a closer look at the Cowboys shows a team that can’t win on the road and doesn’t have consistency in the running game or on defense.
Those issues are major reasons why Fox Sports analyst Colin Cowherd said on his podcast that he was “fooled” by Dallas, even after the Cowboys’ 20-19 win over the Detroit Lions this week.
“I got sucked in by Dallas,” Cowherd said. “… They reeled me in about Week 10 through about Week 13. They reeled me in. I feel like I get less consistency every week. Hey, everybody gets fooled once in a while. I’ve been fooled by them. I don’t think they can win two playoff games. Not two road playoff games.”

Eight of the Cowboys’ 11 wins this season have come at home, while all five of their losses have come on the road.
Dallas has also only beaten two teams with winning records this season – Philadelphia and Detroit – and has lost to other playoff teams like Philadelphia on the road, San Francisco, the Buffalo Bills, and the Miami Dolphins.
Even Week 17’s win over Detroit was controversial after a debatable penalty killed the Lions’ chance to snag the victory away from Dallas.
So unless the Cowboys find a way to secure at least one home playoff game, Cowherd doesn’t believe Dallas can win a Super Bowl.
