The Pittsburgh Steelers had their backs against the wall.
Then, Mike Tomlin decided to go from Mitch Trubisky to Mason Rudolph.
So far so good for the perennial backup, who has led the team to a 2-0 record in as many games, not to mention the fact that their offense has gone to a whole new level with him behind center.
That’s why it wasn’t much of a surprise to see Tomlin sticking with Rudolph for the regular-season finale vs. the Baltimore Ravens, at least, not to Willie Colon.
Talking on The Carton Show, the former Steelers star claims that Tomlin doesn’t actually believe in Pickett.
“Mike Tomlin doesn’t believe in Kenny Pickett. They’re doing a lot of things better with Mason Rudolph at quarterback.”

Truth be told, Pickett hasn’t looked the part thus far, and Tomlin did acknowledge that he needed to see more from his young quarterback earlier in the season.
Rudolph hadn’t started a game since 2021 and was the team’s third-stringer, but the numbers don’t lie.
Also, it’s worth noting that Rudolph could also benefit from a different offensive coordinator, not to mention the fact that he’s getting George Pickens involved early and often.
Reports state that the Steelers would stick with Pickett for at least another season.
But with this new turn of events, it wouldn’t be shocking to see them entering the Russell Wilson sweepstakes or even trying to make a run at Justin Fields or any other quarterback who could potentially become available in the offseason.
