The Philadelphia Eagles have looked like a shell of the team that started out the 2023 NFL season 10-1.
Philadelphia hit arguably its lowest point of the season when they lost to the Arizona Cardinals in Week 17.
Adding insult to injury is the fact that the Eagles’ loss helped secure the No. 1 seed for the San Francisco 49ers who will now have the NFC Playoffs run through them.
It’s been odd to see reigning the NFC Champions look so discombobulated on both sides of the field, but this is the reality that the team and its fans have come to accept recently.
Despite all the talent on the roster, Philadelphia seems out of sync for large stretches of games and allows opposing teams opportunities to climb back into games.
There are several things analysts will say the Eagles need to fix and Marcus Spears believes one of them is the play of the defensive line via ESPN.
“There is no schematic fix. There’s a technical fix. Right now, this defensive line, they are not playing blocks,” Spears said.

Philadelphia has become known for its emphasis on play up front and for years the defensive line was the foundation of the team’s success.
A mixture of Fletcher Cox, Jalen Carter, and Hasaan Reddick has been heading the unit this season, but their play has slipped as of late.
Spears breaks down what he’s seeing on film and believes that the team is simply not communicating during specific alignments and coverages.
When listening to Spears speak, it starts to make more sense why opposing teams have been able to score so easily on the Eagles.
Philadelphia will make the postseason, but it’s hard to feel confident about their chances right now.
