The Las Vegas Raiders are closing out the season on a better note than they started it, and it has gone beyond the results.
This was a team on the verge of self-destruction, with players clearly not being happy with the way they were being treated or used.
Antonio Pierce was a breath of fresh air, especially after the infamous Josh McDaniels regime.
The players felt respected, listened to, and appreciated by one of their own, a former player who had been there and done that and who knew what they were going through.
Their in-game performance was also significantly better with Pierce at the helm.
That’s why it’s not much of a surprise to see that even though team owner Mark Davis hasn’t tipped his hand yet, all signs point towards Pierce getting the full-time job, according to a report by Josina Anderson.
“He’s a straight-shooter. He doesn’t mince words when he’s talking to people. He has great football knowledge as a former player. He has great energy everyday. He’s very consistent. He’s a leader. He knows how to relate and that’s what we need,” a source told Anderson.

Davis had already made this mistake once.
The players had rallied around Rich Bisaccia when Jon Gruden stepped down, but he didn’t even consider giving him the job and pursued McDaniels instead.
Pierce has earned the praise and respect of his players and is a knowledgeable guy.
The Detroit Lions found plenty of success with someone similar in Dan Campbell, and one could say the same of Mike Vrabel and the Tennessee Titans.
The Raiders have been through a lot but they still have a good team; they just need someone who can take the reins of the team and build a sustainable project for the long run.
