The Chicago Bears entered the 2023 season with lots of confidence.
Many believed they would have a chance to compete for the NFC North title and that Justin Fields was about to take a massive leap in production.
The Bears’ on-field performances have not matched this optimism, as the team has been effectively eliminated from the playoffs.
After seeing how the season has played out, many have questioned Fields’ role on this team moving forward, especially now that the Bears have the No. 1 pick in the upcoming draft.
While this doesn’t necessarily indicate Fields is out the door, Cameron Wolfe recently reported that Chris Streveler is slated to work out for the team.

If the Bears signed him, Streveler would likely be relegated to a backup role or perhaps be added to their practice squad.
Streveler has played in eight career NFL games but hasn’t started in any of them.
With this in mind, what does this possibly mean for Fields?
By bringing in another quarterback, the Bears could signal that they are looking to get deeper at the position ahead of the 2024 campaign.
If they decide to trade Fields, electing to draft a quarterback with the No. 1 overall pick, having Streveler on the roster could be a solid option.
On the other hand, if they keep Fields around, the Bears could wind up trading their first pick for a king’s ransom, garnering more capital to build around their young quarterback.
The Bears have several decisions to make over the next several weeks, including the decision to sign Streveler.
