The future of Bill Belichick with the New England Patriots remains up in the air as the end of the 2023 season draws closer.
His speculated departure – whether through outright dismal by team owner Robert Kraft or in a trade to another club – is just conjecture at the moment, but that doesn’t mean rumors about his next landing spot haven’t sprung up.
CBS Sports NFL insider Josina Anderson reported that not only are the Los Angeles Chargers interested in Belichick, but teams within the NFC South could also be interested if the Patriots head coach becomes available.

The Carolina Panthers are the only team that currently has a head coach opening in the NFC South after owner David Tepper fired Frank Reich, but the other three teams could all be looking for new coaches by the end of the season.
Two of the teams in the Atlanta Falcons, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and New Orleans Saints will miss the playoffs, as only the division winner will make it to the postseason.
So whichever teams don’t make it could look to move on from their current head coaches – either Arthur Smith for the Falcons, Todd Bowles with the Buccaneers, or Dennis Allen with the Saints.
Of that group, only Bowles has made the playoffs as a head coach.
Belichick, meanwhile, will finish with his worst record as head coach of the Patriots but may not want to join any of the aforementioned teams.
The Patriots could also decide to keep the legendary coach for at least one more season with a top-five pick likely coming to them for the 2024 draft.
